Tranquility Jazz Festival 2006

The day before leaving to the US, the Tranquility Jazz Festival was held all over Anguilla Island.  From beach-front mid-day gigs to luxurious evening concerts at the Cuisinart resort, the event was just spectacular.

While our intention was to go to the dinner and a show at Cuisinart to see
I got invited unexpectedly (thanks Teacha) to go the second night to see Pharaoh Sanders, Jaine Rogers, Eddie Palmieri and Robert Glasper.  The latin influences of the latter were just booty-shakin good enough to make some innocent Puerto Rican soul grab me to salsa dance.  But since that was only my second time dancing salsa, and since the uneven gravel field didn't do so well with my heels, I would imagine the sight wasn't so pretty to see.

But what counts is that it was fun.  And if it's one thing we can all learn from Anguillians, it's to dance and sing... no matter where you are, who you are, if you sound good or bad.... when you feel like it.

And trust me, to see the Police Chief singing at the top of his lungs while shopping for orange juice is quite the sight!
