What better way to be welcomed back / ripped out of US-style commercial civilization that what has been going on for the past 24 hours.

You see, both the males I share a home and an office with are dependent upon soda.
Not any kind of soda, but Diet Coke.
Nothing else, no substitute, bad news if there isn't any around.

So guess that the country of Anguilla has run out of!??

Yup, the entire county and yup, Diet Coke!

So far, between the three of us we've been to every single grocery store on the island (five) and every convenient store (ok, that is only three) and they're all out.

Can you even imagine running out of anything in the world you are in?
I wonder if our commercialistically accustomed kids even understand that concept of anything material being irreplaceable at any point in time, for an unknown amount of time?  (Don't get me started on the omnipresent 24hr WalMart's).

If not, then I desperately want them to know!
