The Joy of Using a Machete
When is the last time you had a legitimate use for a machete?
Right!
Me neither and as a matter of fact I've never owned one before coming to Anguilla.
Until today that is.....
Our palm tree in the front yard has been growing plantains for some time now and with the weight of the fruit, and the strong trade-winds, the palm finally fell over a couple of days ago.
Not sure why I didn't do this before, but our machete finally got used for legitimate purposes (and no Writa, splitting a board in half, like we've been doing is NOT a legitimate use of a machete).
WHAT A GREAT FEELING!
Perhaps a bit too great, judging by the bewildered look of the little kids standing around, wondering if their Mother had lost her mind chopping the cr*& out of a palm tree...... but that's besides the point.

Here the 45lbs bounty with the palm in the background.
And I am serious, you've got to do try that one day, very liberating!
(feel free to come for a visit and try it out)
