Something out of Nothing
My Mom and her friend Maggie visited us in Anguilla a couple of months ago and during one of our nightly "what did you learn today" dinner table conversations, Maggie said something interesting:

Which is the same idea as is featured in this story (via Brian) of a guy in Ethiopia making $1200USD coffee machines out of mortar shells.
It's not about what you have or don't have - everybody can make something out of nothing!
Although apparently that mind-set in turn is also acquired and Guy Kawasaki just recently wrote about "The Effort Effect" article Marina Krakovsky wrote after 30 years of study:
So what are you?
Growth or fixed mindset?
"I learned today that no matter where you live, or how little or much you have - there is always something you can do to provide for yourself"Maggie said that after a trip to St. Martin where some guy drinking beer and bumming a smoke was making bowls and hats out of palm fronds that he sold to tourist for $10USD.
Which is the same idea as is featured in this story (via Brian) of a guy in Ethiopia making $1200USD coffee machines out of mortar shells.
"We take these objects of war and turn them into objects of pleasure."
It's not about what you have or don't have - everybody can make something out of nothing!
Although apparently that mind-set in turn is also acquired and Guy Kawasaki just recently wrote about "The Effort Effect" article Marina Krakovsky wrote after 30 years of study:
"The article postulates that people have two kinds of mindsets: growth or fixed. People with the growth mindset view life as a series of challenges and opportunities for improving. People with a fixed mindset believe that they are "set" as either good or bad. The issue is that the good ones believe they don't have to work hard, and the bad ones believe that working hard won't change anything."Interesting stuff..... think about it!
So what are you?
Growth or fixed mindset?
