The Day Your First Pet Died
Do you remember when your first pet died?
I do, very vividly. I held my sick, little black and white mouse named Domino, until she finally died in my crying, 7 year old hands.
Well, today was that day for our kids as our beloved Cubone died after having gotten a hold of some poisoned food out in a field. While we managed to track down the vet on the island which provided Cubone with some potentially life saving shots, cubone didn't make it and died in Explora's arms after a few hours of fighting.
Coming home and having to tell your kids that their first pet they raised had died, was horrible and there is a good chance I might have cried more than they did. That circle of life thing is nice, but it's a bitch when it happens to someone you love.
So we did what any 21st century parent would, which is buy a domain and put up a website and Island Boy, which is Cubone's "Dad" wrote up Cubone's life story, you can read it at www.OurDogCubone.com
Don't miss the condolences button as any sharing of "the day my first pet died" stories would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE: You guys ROCK! The kids got almost 50 emails and they've been huddling around my laptop every morning, reading their emails with big, glowing eyes. They were convinced that a) nobody would find Cubone's website b) nobody would care c) they were the only kids this has ever happened to, so the emails have been a HUGE help - thank you guys!
