Half an Hour
If you have a daughter, niece, neighbour you babysit sometimes or any female child in your life, you absolutely, positively MUST take 34 minutes to see this video. If you have a son, nephew or any male child, then you owe it them equally, as this coin of stereotypes we have to live up to flips both ways.
You don't have to watch it right this second (although now seems good, seeing how you're not doing anything else) but you must help the children in your life understand "reality" better than they could on their own.
The media messages we consume every day are powerful to the extent I had frankly never thought about. I distinctly recall some of the messages I was given as a little girl and can remember what I thought 'normal' should be as a teenager.
There is no more helpless emotion in the world than to feel inadequate.
Do you have half an hour?
