"Excuse me Miss, there is a crab on your Windshield"
Remember that wedding I went to Switzerland for last week that I was gonna blog about?
Well, that couple (which we shall call A&A) is now here in Anguilla on their honeymoon, in an amazing villa on the South side of the island. I picked them up in St. Maartin yesterday and we all went over to their house with fresh French pastries this morning.

My friends have traveled the world extensively and were very excited to get out of the relatively chilly Swiss summer to enjoy some of the constant sun around here.
Except for.... there was no sun here all day and it was eerily dark, which is something I've never seen, not in the whole year we've been here.

Only after I told "A" that this was the craziest weather I've seen in Anguilla, I was informed that A&A carry "bad weather karma" that has brought rain to even the remotest deserts they've been to.
That, of course clears it all up
We still had a great time jamming to reggae on the beach (in the rain) anyway and then even took a small detour by the ice cream parlor on the way home, which was full of locals in heavy fleece, winter jackets, which is something that happens here as soon as the temperature drops below 70 degrees.
It's very interesting to see Anguilla through new (i.e. visitors) eyes, as I didn't really notice those types of things anymore. And I also don't question a bunch of odd things that my nutty family does anymore either.
So all day it was questions such as "why is Explora lifting Lola 6 feet in the air on a skim board"? or "why are we stopping in the middle of the road and driving in reverse?".
So when we actually started driving in reverse (after stopping in the middle of the road)... "dunno, just watch and see" was my answer. Just moments later a smelly, rotting, giant crab that got picked up by Explora from the middle of the road was promptly affixed underneath our windshield wipers and we drove around the island all day like that.

As we were leaving the ice cream parlor, a puzzled local (dressed in a winter jacket) was kind enough to point out the obvious :
"Excuse me miss, there is a crab on your windshield!"
Why, you ask?
Well.... hmmm.... I don't really question that anymore, but I suppose the crab was too smelly to ride in the car!

What I want to know is - how did the crab get onto the windshield in the first place?

Ah, ok... the crab made it from the middle of the road to our windshield courtesy of Explora, which was trying to add to one of the boys' crab collection. Fyi, the other boy has a bone collection (just don't ask).
In case this is confusing, you'll be here soon and all of this will make much more sense once you meet my bunch of crazies!

Now that makes more sense...I'll have to watch out for explora and hope she doesn't put a crab (or anything akin to that in my luggage..!!)
fyi : I hate crabs
