Breaking News from Anguilla

Have you ever turned your water faucet on, such as in the middle of doing dishes or taking a shower and nothing but a big blug-blug noise came out?
No?
Then YOU must not be in my house in Anguilla right now!

A collect call to the House of Spellman in Dallas (where we are at right now) informed us early this morning that the feared had in fact taken place - Lance and Co. ran out of water in our house in Anguilla.

To catch all the newbies to this blog up - there is no such thing as an island-wide water system on the island and almost all houses have cisterns which collect rain water from the roof.  As long as you're VERY diligent with your water usage and as long as it rains every few days, this isn't usually an issue...

...unless you have non-islanders in your house, which probably flush the toilets all the time and take daily showers, which will quickly run you out of water.

I guess this is the point where I take back the words: "The only thing that would suck is if you ran out of water, but it's been raining lots, so that won't happen to you guys."

Think I'll go take a bath and ponder that for a while!

UPDATE: Our Anguillian landlord "Ping" (did I ever mention that people only go by their nicknames on the island) resolved the situation quickly by transfering water from one of his other houses.  Now as long as it rains in the next few days, all will be well. Speaking of which.... (new blog entry to come soon)
