Tourist Season
It's started, and you can actually feel the slight buzzing in the air. Tourist season has begun, here my top ten list of "Signs Tourist Season Has Started":
- Instead of nobody being at the beach, there are actually 5 people there now.
(Ku Hotel, Shoal Bay, site of ALUG2008) - Where there was silence before, private jets are starting to land/take off several times a day.
- Lots of cars are turning with the windshield wipers on = tourist in a right driver seat car trying to use the blinker.
- Christmas Reggae music is playing on the local radio station.
(Kartouche Bay, beach below our house) - Local bar's are full of oddly dressed white people = Europeans. (little joke there)
- Confused people in white cars that don't understand why you honked =
tourists that don't understand the different horn signs for "I'm about
to pass you" or "hi, good to see you".
- You can go down to the airport and watch celebrities get out of their insanely huge jets.
(Shoal Bay East, our usual Sunday hang-out. Note the rainbow on the top left) - The local merchant's have once again constant smiles on their faces, after a Summer of no income, when the island shuts down during Hurricane Season.
- Lots of white, sunburned people out at night, dancing to reggae without an ounce of rhythm.
