Born and raised in Switzerland, at 17 I went to the US for a 6 month engagement as au-pair, taking care of a handicapped child. 15 years and 4 kids later a consulting gig brought me to the Caribbean
island of Anguilla, which I immediately fell in love with. A few months later the house, cars, furniture and most belongings were sold or given away and we moved with 2 suitcases per person and a
boat load full of naivete to our Caribbean island in the British West Indies.

Well I must say I know what it feels like to be on Anguilla when a hurricane is headed your way. Yours looks a little more certain though.

Certain it is but it's still moving east and west a bit, which may be the difference between a "really bad storm" and a full blown hurricane.
I don't think the effects of this one will be severe, but then again, I don't have anything to compare it to. Went to the store earlier today and I've never seen so many cars on the road, nor so many people in a (Caribbean style arguing) line. We should be good to go, got a tent/bed going in the living room, which the kids think is quite exciting. We'll prolly be without power for a few days but should be able to cook with gas still. Water wont' work since the pump is electric but I've been known to pull up buckets on a string before and we have a good amount of drinking water.
And since I wrecked the car last weekend, that big pile of center blocks in the church parking lot across the street isn't scaring me too much.
Batten (sp?) down the hatches Francie! Be sure to post when Omar leaves! I will say a prayer for you!
