October Flashback

I just found some long lost thoughts I had jotted down in October, that never got published. I also realized that I never published the "Summer of Fun" album, which might follow shortly. Note the use of the word "might" as I think I promised some things on here that have yet to be brought to paper, or virtual paper, or whatever this is called.

- Despite having grown up in Switzerland (a cold weather country) I had completely forgotten what Fall leaves sound like when you walk through them. I have such fond memories of doing that as a kid and finding the occasional hedgehog.

- While flying with the kids, I never seem to have a problem switching seats with people on planes, it's almost like nobody wants to sit between two 5 year olds. (giggle)

- While efforts to import Halloween in Anguilla have reached about 50 people, it turns out that trick-or-treating in the US is far more popular and fun. We had a blast, despite the sub zero temperatures.... Darth Vader showed up eventually and brought me a soy latte. I bet you didn't know he was such a trendy guy!

- When hyping up "hey kids, wanna go ice skating" for days, be sure to enter the appropriate search terms into Google as to not end up at a ROLLER skating rink.  Thanks to Jamie "ADD Search Engineer" for that one!

- Getting hit by lightening while flying in a plane is interesting, specifically 'cause everything turns strobe  light white, like in a Michael Jackson video, in and outside of the plane while a giant bang happens, like King Kong jumping on the plane. Fortunately, nothing else happens, other than confused passengers not knowing how they're supposed to feel, but even at 6000ft there wasn't a drop in altitude, no loss of electricity in the plane or anything.
(But if I EVER catch a FUTILE, I will strangle that f&%er slowly anyway)

- Somehow trying to imagine what "cold" feels like when you're in a hot place is as impossible as trying to imagine pain when you're not hurt.  Because of that, I am always surprised about what cold feels like. Note the winter coat in the below pic.

- The absence of music in other cultures is always a shock to me when I travel, somehow you get so accustomed to people singing and dancing all the time. Typically within a few days of being somewhere else, I have widthdrawal and have to turn on loud music and dance by myself in the hotel room. Which feels a bit odd, but oh well.

- Making a fire while it's cold outside is amazing, even if you get thiiiiiis close to setting your house on fire.
Even more amazing is singing and playing guitar with friends in front of the fire.
Most amazing though, is doing an accoustic version of Outkast's "Heya" and Akon "It Don't Matter", with your friends, in front of a fire, while it's cold outside!
